Security/Monitoring Mirrors


Manage Mirror


Selecting Overview → Manage → Security/Monitoring → Manage Mirror displays the Manage Mirror dashboard with a list of any existing Mirror settings.


Select the desired Fabric from the left side navigation bar and the dashboard updates showing all Mirror entries from all switches within the Fabric.


Note: If no entries exist a "No Data Exists" message is displayed. You must first configure an entry on a switch. Prerequisite settings and configuration may be required.



The dashboard displays a list of existing Mirror entries by Name. Additional parameters include: Switch, Filtering, Duration, In/Out Port, Packet Engine, Status and Packet Count.

Select the desired switch from the fabric and the dashboard updates automatically with Mirror settings.


The dashboard displays a list of existing Mirrors by name.

Mirrors are added by selecting Create Mirror.

To add a Mirror click Create Mirror and enter the configuration parameters which include:


  • Switch – IP address or name of switch
  • Name – name of the mirror


Optional parameters include:


  • Direction – ingress, egress or bidirectional
  • Filtering – port, vflow-and-port, vflow-or-port
  • In-port – select port from 1 through nv
  • Out Port – select port from 1 through n
  • Packet Engine – Ethernet interface – eth0 or eth2
  • Span Encap – none, over-ip, over vlan
    • over-ip – when selected the following parameters are available:
      • VLAN –  mirror span vlan tagging ID – default is none
      • TOS – mirror span tos – default is none
      • Duration – in minutes
      • Source Mac – source MAC address for the span
      • Destination Mac – destination MAC address for the span
      • Span Local IP – local IPv4 address
      • Span Remote IP – remote IPv4 address
    • over-vlan – when selected the following parameters are available:
      • VLAN –  mirror span vlan tagging ID – default is none
      • TOS – mirror span tos – default is none
      • Duration – in minutes 
  • Duration – in minutes

Click the Edit icon to display and select a range of ports. Click the desired ports and click Apply to continue or Cancel to return to the previous screen without applying any changes.

Note: The Edit icon referred to in this section is represented by the pencil icon .



When the Mirror is successfully added to the dashboard you click on the Status off/on slide switch to enable the Mirror.


A confirmation message requires an acknowledgment to continue activating the mirror.

Click OK to continue or Cancel to return to the previous screen without making any changes.


Upon a successful start of the Mirror the dashboard updates and the Status switch is marked green.

To obtain detailed information about a Mirror click on an entry in the dashboard. A Details pane opens displaying the configuration information of the Mirror. Scroll through the list and click X to return to the dashboard.

To modify a Mirror use Edit by selecting the Cog  icon to make changes to the Mirror parameters which include: 


  • Switch – IP address or name of switch
  • Name – name of the mirror

To delete a Mirror use Delete by selecting the Cog  icon. A confirmation message requires an acknowledgment to continue deletion.

Note: Deleting a Mirror will remove all associated Flows and PCAP files.
