Seed Switch Redundancy (WEB-HA)

There are features and functions used in UNUM Manager and UNUM Analytics that are common throughout the user interface (UI). Please refer to the Common Functions section for more information on the use of these functions and features.

When redundant seed switches exist in the Fabric, the Details dashboard highlights them in blue (NVOS | netvisor-collector-UNUM-8Node), and the topology map highlights both switches in a green halo.

These redundant seed switches operate in an active / standby manner accessed via a common VIP (Virtual IP address), and UNUM adds the redundant seed switches using Fabric Designer.

Rolling over the Seed Switch / Collector in the dashboard reveals the type of connection used, mgmt or in-band, while rolling over an entry in the MgmtIP/Mac or Inband/Mac reveals the Netmask.

The VIP (Virtual IP address) for the redundant seed switches displays in the Collector Management dashboard (netvisor-collector-UNUM-8Node).

In these examples, the IP addresses for the seed switches are 10.110.2.20 and 10.110.2.21, respectively, while the VIP address is 10.110.2.44.

Inband Management

UNUM supports Inband connections to switches using a physical cable. The details dashboard displays a running Collector in blue when connected in this manner. However, this is via the Inband interface.

Rolling over the Collector displays the type of connection. Details include the switch name and the management connection type. Note the use of 10.1.2.2 IP addresses in this case.

When redundant seed switches connect via the Inband interface, the dashboard highlights them in blue, and the topology map highlights them in a green halo.

The VIP displays in the Collector Management dashboard (netvisor-collector-Unum8Node). Note the 10.1.2.200 IP address in this case.
