IGMP Static Sources

The traffic addressed to a multicast group is confined to the ports in the group, which prevents flooding of traffic on all the ports. Hosts join multicast groups either by sending an unsolicited IGMP join message or sending an IGMP join message in response to a general query from a multicast router (the switch forwards general queries from multicast routers to all ports in a VLAN).

When you specify group membership for a multicast group address statically, the static setting supersedes any IGMP snooping learning. Hence, static multicast groups can prevent L2 multicast flooding if the hosts do not implement the applicable IGMP mechanism to restrict the traffic to specific ports or if IGMP snooping is disabled.

There are features and functions used in Arista NetVisor UNUM and Insight Analytics that are common throughout the user interface (UI). Please refer to the Common Functions section for more information on the use of these functions and features.

Selecting Manager → Layer 2 → IGMP Static Sources displays the  IGMP Static Sources dashboard with a list of any existing entries.

Select the applicable Fabric from the left-hand navigation bar and the dashboard updates showing all IGMP Static Sources entries from all switches within the Fabric

Note: If no entries exist a "No Data Exists" message is displayed. You must first configure an entry on a switch. Prerequisite settings and configuration may be required.

The dashboard displays a list of existing IGMP Static Sources entries by Fabric.

Additional parameters include: Switch, VLAN, Group IP, BD, Source IP, vNET Id, and Ports.
