Layer 2 Configuration - VLAN


There are features and functions used in Arista NetVisor UNUM and Insight Analytics that are common throughout the user interface (UI). Please refer to the Common Functions section for more information on the use of these functions and features.


VLAN Ports


Selecting Manager → Layer 2 → VLAN Ports displays the VLAN Ports dashboard. 


You must select a node switch from the Fabric to update the dashboard with a list of any existing VLAN Port entries.


Note: If no entries exist a "No Data Exists" message is displayed. You must first configure an entry on a switch. Prerequisite settings and configuration may be required.



This feature table displays data based on the fabric's default Collector Switch. If no data displays in the dashboard, either select a switch from the Left-hand Navigation (LHN) pane or perform a Search by selecting an FRG (Fabric Resource Group) and a specific Attribute from the drop-down lists, as required. 



The dashboard displays a list of existing VLAN Ports and a drop-down selection list. The dashboard displays a list of existing VLAN Ports entries by Switch. Additional parameters include: VLAN, Ports and Untagged Ports.

The Select VLAN selection box displays the VLAN name and the switch name. For example: vlan-100_vRouter_VRF (aries-unum-spine1).

Select the applicable switch from the fabric and the dashboard updates automatically with VLAN PORT settings. 


Note: When selecting --- All --- from the Select VLAN drop-down list, the Add a Port to a VLAN button is disabled and is not displayed in the dashboard.

The dashboard displays a list of existing VLAN Ports and a drop-down selection list. The dashboard displays a list of existing VLAN Ports entries by Ports and Untagged Ports.

Add a Port to a VLAN


VLAN ports are created by selecting Add a Port to a VLAN


Click Add a Port to a VLAN and enter the parameter settings for Ports


Select the Switch or FRG (Fabric Resource Group).


Enter the applicable port number from 1 – 255 or  click the Edit icon to display and select a range of ports. 


Click the applicable ports and click Apply to continue or Cancel to return to the previous screen without applying any changes. 


Click Save to add the ports to the VLAN. Select Untagged to use the untagged ports assigned to the VLAN.

Additional fields are configured by clicking on the icon for Additional Fields


Additional fields include:


Port Desc – A port description.


The dashboard updates with the port entry.

Note: When selecting --- All --- from the Select VLAN drop-down list, the Add a Port to a VLAN button is disabled and is not displayed in the dashboard.


Remove Ports from Selected VLAN


Use the Select VLAN drop-down list to select the applicable VLAN. 


Using the Cog icon click Remove Ports from (selected VLAN) and select the ports for deletion by either deleting them from the ports box or using the Interactive Port Selector icon to deselect the port. 


When using the Edit feature, you must click Apply to register the new port configuration. 


Click Submit to remove the port(s) from the selected VLAN or click Cancel to return to the previous screen without applying any changes.

Click OK to continue or Cancel to return to the previous screen without making any changes.


Remove Ports from Multiple VLANs


Use the Select VLAN drop-down list to select --- All ---


Highlight multiple rows using the feature.

Using the Cog icon click Remove Ports and select the ports for deletion by either deleting them from Selected Rows or the Interactive Port Selector icon to deselect the port(s).

When using the Edit feature, you must click Apply to register the new port configuration. 


Click Submit to remove the port(s) from the selected VLANs or click Cancel to return to the previous screen without applying any changes.


Confirm the deletion.

Note: When deleting multiple entries from Selected Rows, the delete confirmation message does not populate with the multiple entry details.
