Provisioning NetVisor OS Onto Bare-Metal Switches


Before creating a fabric, you must install the NetVisor OS operating system onto the switches that will become the fabric nodes.


Dell switches and the NetVisor OS operating system use the Open Network Install Environment (ONIE) to provision bare-metal switches. After racking, cabling, and powering on a new switch, it comes up in the ONIE install environment, and the switch awaits communication with a DHCP server (among other things). Once establishing communication, the NetVisor OS install files will be pushed to the individual switch, and the install process will start.
