Layer 2 Configuration – STP (Spanning Tree Protocol)


There are features and functions used in Arista NetVisor UNUM and Insight Analytics that are common throughout the user interface (UI). Please refer to the Common Functions section for more information on the use of these functions and features.


Manage STP


Selecting Manager → Layer 2 → Manage STP displays the Manage STP dashboard with a list of any existing STP settings. 


Select the applicable Fabric from the left-hand navigation bar and the dashboard updates showing all STP configurations from all switches within the Fabric


Note: If no entries exist a "No Data Exists" message is displayed. You must first configure an entry on a switch. Prerequisite settings and configuration may be required.


The dashboard displays a list of existing STP entries by Switch. Additional parameters include: Enable, STP Mode, Bridge Id, Bridge Priority, Hello Time, Forwarding Delay, and Max Age.

Selecting an individual Switch from the fabric updates the dashboard with only the STP settings for that switch. 


The dashboard displays a list of existing STP entries. Parameters include: Enable, STP Mode, Bridge Id, Bridge Priority, Hello Time, Forwarding Delay, and Max Age.

Modify STP


You modify an entry using the Edit function by selecting the Cog icon. 


To modify a STP click the Edit icon to make changes to the STP parameters which include: 


Enable – (checkbox) - Enable or disable the STP.

STP Mode – STP mode.

Bridge Id – STP bridge ID.

Bridge Priority – STP bridge priority - default value of 32769.

Hello Time – STP hello time between 1 and 10 secs - default 2.

Forwarding Delay – STP forwarding delay between 4 and 30 secs - default 15.

Max Age – Maximum age time between 6 and 40 secs - default 20.


Select additional field parameters by clicking on the icon. Additional fields include: 


Bpdus Bridge Ports – (checkbox) - BPDU packets to bridge specific.

Mst Max Hops – Maximum hop count for mst bpdu - default 20.

Mst Config Name – Name for MST Configuration Instance.

Mst Config Revision – MST Revision from 0 to 65535.

Root Guard Wait Time – Wait time for root guard – default 20. Enter 0 to disable. Max time is 300 seconds.


Modify STP Parameters


Click Save to continue or Cancel to return to the previous screen without saving any changes.
