Layer 1 Configuration – Virtual Wire

Port Association

Selecting Overview → Manage → Layer 1 → Port Association displays the Port Association dashboard with a list of any existing Port Association settings.

Select the desired Fabric from the left side navigation bar and the dashboard updates showing all Port Association configurations from all switches within the Fabric.

In the event there are no entries in the dashboard and you see "No data exists!" you must select a Switch and select Create a port state association.

Create a port state association

Select Create a port state association from the dashboard.

To create the Port Association enter the parameters which include:

  • name – configuration name
  • master-ports – master ports
  • slave-ports – slave ports


Use the interactive port selector to select the desired ports for the Port Association.


The Edit icon referred to in this section is represented by the pencil icon .

Click the Edit icon to display and select a range of ports. Click the desired ports and click Apply to continue or Cancel to return to the previous screen without applying any changes.

Additional field parameters are modified by clicking on the icon for Additional Fields. Enter the parameter settings for:

  • policy – port association policy - default all-masters
  • bidir – bi-directional port state tracking (checkbox)
  • enable – enable or disable port association in hardware (checkbox)
  • virtual-wire – associated ports form a virtual wire (checkbox)
  • monitor-ports – monitor ports

Click Save to continue or Cancel to return to the previous screen without saving any changes.

The dashboard displays the new Port Association entries by name. Additional parameters include: master-ports, slave-ports, policy, virtual-wire, bidir, monitor-ports and enable.

You sort the list of entries in the dashboard using the up / down arrows above each of the columns to sort the information as needed.

To obtain detailed information about a Port Association click on an entry in the dashboard.

A Details pane opens displaying the configuration information about the Port Association.

Click X to close the viewing pane.

You modify an entry using the Edit function by selecting the Cog icon.

To modify the Port Association click the Edit icon to make changes to the Port Association parameters which include:

  • master-ports – master ports
  • slave-ports – slave ports
  • policy – port association policy - default all-masters
  • virtual-wire – associated ports form a virtual wire (checkbox)
  • bidir – bi-directional port state tracking (checkbox)
  • monitor-ports – monitor ports
  • enable – enable or disable port association in hardware (checkbox)

To delete a Port Association entry use Delete by selecting the Cog icon. A confirmation message requires an acknowledgment to continue deletion.
